My previous trip to Nebraska was so rich and full and wonderful that I am just overflowing with gratitude. One of the biggest blessings was meeting my new friend Nash. Nash’s mom is such a big part of my story that I had to share these images and a little bit about why she is such a huge part of my life.
Walking down the hospital hallway to meet this little guy a flood of emotions washed over me. From the first time I sat and interviewed with his mom in her photography studio in Lincoln, NE seven years ago; the countless hours we spent working together; conferences we attended; laughter and inside jokes we’ve shared; the mentoring and guidance she’s given me; secrets we’ve kept; dreams we’ve spoken; healthy fights and turmoil we’ve encountered…. when she photographed my wedding and hugged my neck so tight because she was so truly happy for me; and four years later when she found her soulmate I stood beside her as well; through the distance when we would share books and podcasts and encouragement; traveling together to shoot weddings and furthering our careers; and most importantly to my heart when she sat in the back of the church at my grandmother’s funeral and cried right along with me… to this precious moment when I got to meet her hours old son.
I’ve said this several times over the years, but it is such a gift to not only be part of my friends lives and their children lives but to photograph them in these moments is equally as precious. Sarah & Grant, I’m so incredibly happy and proud of you both for who you are, who you strive to become and for the parents I know you will be. Thank you for letting me watch in on this new adventure that you’re about to embark on. Love you.
Pictured below: my wedding December 2010; Sarah and Grant’s wedding October 2014; Sarah and Jeremy photographing our wedding on the farm (one of my favorite images); beautiful Nash and his mom this past week in Nebraska and the last photo may be slightly strange unless you know that my parents have a watermelon farm:-) Cheers friends and thank you for reading along!!
